When designing pitched multi-layer roofs, it is essential to ensure adequate ventilation of the air gap between the layers in order to prevent excessive condensation of air moisture, which enters these areas by diffusion through the roof cladding. To ensure adequate ventilation, at least 45 ventilation fittings must be used per 100 m² of roof area. Ventilation is influenced by the roof pitch. For pitches between 25° and 45° and rafter lengths up to 10 m, ventilation of at least 5‰ of the roof area is required. They are usually laid in the second row from the ridge at regular intervals so that they are evenly spaced according to the number of ventilation fittings required, as calculated.
